Assistant Chief Constable (Local Policing)
Sharon Rowe

ACC Rowe

Sharon Rowe is Assistant Chief Constable in charge of Local Policing.

ACC Rowe has extensive experience with the Metropolitan Police, having served in a variety of uniform and CID roles during her 25 year career.

She moved to one of the Met’s most challenging inner-city boroughs, Lambeth, in 2007. During her time as Lambeth Borough’s chief officer, she managed to reduce gun crime and murder by half and street crime by a quarter, through a passion for local policing and a commitment to ‘policing by consent’.

One of her top priorities was developing trust in the police among local communities. She also worked to tackle organised criminal networks and led nationally on tackling gangs, where she was instrumental in delivering the National Tackling Gangs Action Plan.

Lambeth was one of the first boroughs to implement the ‘Prevent’ strand of the Government’s CONTEST anti-terrorism programme, which focuses on building relationships with all members of the community and key organisations. ‘Prevent’ work is designed to provide reassurance to vulnerable groups and impact upon the underlying causes of terrorism by diminishing support for terrorists.

Her interests include golf and walking. She recently got married and has a black Labrador called Bert.
